Tara's Jiyeon's Inspired Eye Makeup Tutorial

T-ara (Korean: 티아라, Japanese: ティアラ, often stylized as T-ARA or T♔ARA) is a popular 7 member South Korean girl group formed by Core Contents Media in 2009.  The maknae (youngest) of the group, Jiyeon, always wears the typical elongated Korean eye makeup. I've been inspired by her to create this look, so enjoy!

How do I apply my BB cream?

I've made a separate tutorial here filled with tips and tricks on BB cream usage!

From left to right: Blistex Conditioning Lipbalm, Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner, Rimmel London Soft Kohl Pencil Eyeliner, Coastal Scents Double-ended eyeshadow and liner brush, Clinique pact, Eyeliner brush and a no named Japanese eyeshadow and blush pact.

Step 1: Tightlining/Lining the waterline using a pencil eyeliner.
I applied a light white shimmery base from the Clinique pact before taking this photo. (For photos of products, scroll down)
Step 2: Create a line using an angled eyeliner brush, extending from your eye's outer v. I used Maybelline's gel eyeliner.

Step 3: Draw in your upper and bottom lash line, connecting it to the end of the line we created in step 2. (Optional: Add a flick at the top to create a more dramatic look). Then fill in the empty, undrawn spaces.

And this would be the end result after filling in the eyeliner.

The above finished look is the more natural approach, so for a more dramatic look, you can add more flicks and apply glitter eyeliner/shadow. Don't be afraid to add a light pink lipstick like Maybelline's Color Sensational in Pink Please 025.

Step 4: Add more flicks to create the illusion of doll eyes. Use your angled eyeliner brush to have a more easy application.
I applied some silver eyeshadow from the Japanese eyeshadow/blush pact under the bottom lined line. Extend it to the flick.

  Finished result:

Products used:
Clinique pact which includes several an individual blush, eyeshadow and bronzer.

I used the light shimmery white/taupe colour.

I used the silver to create a more dramatic effect.

Review: Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Pink Please 025

Hello camera lens!

I was searching through my folder, finding photos and only this product was taken with my new camera! I promised that I would post up something new on the 13th (Friday the 13th! Eek) so here it is.

What is it?
Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Pink Please 025. Sadly, this has been discontinued but It's easily available online as I purchased this on eBay.

Why You'll Love It (taken from the Maybelline website):
Fall in love with color, all over again:
-Crisper color from pure pigments
-Creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar
-Lipcolor so rich, so stunning… it’s sensational
44 Captivating Shades

For Best Results (taken from the Maybelline website)
Apply your lipstick by starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to the outer edges of your lip, following the contours of your mouth. Repeat the technique on your lower lip.

My results:
To be honest, I never really follow intructions on a product unless you really have to to achieve optimum results (like the DHC deep cleansing oil). I apply it by smoothly following the shape of my lips, from left to right on each lip. I was intrigued and fascinated with the idea of pink lipstick when I saw Wang Ji Hye wear it in the drama "Personal Taste". I thought it was a more natural approach to thered I always see being worn. The colour is a very lovely toned-down, matte light pink.

In the below picture, I applied the lip colour without lip balm to show you how moisturising/drying it is. This lipstick DOES fall into fine lines on the lips, but that was be easily overcomed by using a rich lip balm like Burt's Bee's Promegranate Oil Lipbalm. In my experience, lighter lipsticks wash out light skinned people unless it has some mauve undertone. Pink Please obviously is on the cooler side and would look better on darker skin. This lipstick would last a maximum of 3 hours with eating and drinking.

This lipstick is presented in a beautifully packaged dark pink/red plastic cap. You're then welcomed by reflective metal inside the tube, which encases the actual product itself. I have had no problem with the packaging as it can smoothly run up and down, allowing the user to achieve maximum usage.
I blurred the surrounding areas to allow you to focus on the lipcolour instead. (Taken in bathroom light)

This product overall would receive a 3.5 out of 5. I purchased this lipstick on eBay for $7.00.

P.S: Apparently one of their pink lipsticks in this range has the highest amount of lead tested in a study, I will have to find the link! But luckily its not Pink Please.

Review: BeautyMate Anti-Blemish Repairing Nano Mask

I’m back with another quick review on the BeautyMate Anti-Blemish Repairing Nano Mask (introduced in my haul post)

There should be an authentication sticker on every genuine BeautyMate mask

There should be an expiry date at the back of each packet.

What is the Beauty Mate Anti-Blemish Repairing Nano Mask? (extracted from Sasa.com)
BeautyMate Anti-Blemish Repairing Nano Mask is manufactured by the newly imported nano technology, combined with a close-fitting mask cutting, can effectively release essence nutrients into skin cells to bring you a unique skin care experience.
Chamomile extract can calm down the skin and relieve redness. Aloe provides natural moisture-locking factor to keep the skin supple and delicate in all environments, and is ideal for acne-prone skin. Cucumber extract helps to regulate the water and oil level of the skin to prevent appearance of blemishes.

How do you use it? (extracted from Sasa.com)
  • Spread mask over face and gently press on mask with fingertips to ensure a snug fit.
  • Leave mask on for 15 – 20 minutes, then remove.
  • Wipe off remaining essence with a cotton pad.
  • Use 1 to 2 times a week, or more often when necessary.

My results:
Inside the green box, there was an informative pamphlet describing and advertising the different types of masks available. My initial expression was “Wow, there is a lot of essence”. I’ve been snooping around, looking at other reviews and I was a bit mortified when I heard there was a large amount of essence. You can see the amount of essence left in the packet after mask removal, some even found its way onto my bed. To use the mask, you have to peel away the protective cover plastic before applying.
The mask was unfitted on my face, making it difficult to effectively apply the mask away from my hair line. The closely knitted mask allows the user’s skin to effectively absorb the nutrients and properties from the facial sheet. As the mask dried (It took a total of 45 minutes), it was increasingly harder to keep the mask on for a snug fit.
The texture of the essence was sticky and left me no choice but to wash my face and hands.
In the long run, it did NOT prevent my acne but it is a great cost-effective choice for a mask.
The whole BeautyMate facial mask range includes:
  • ·         Whitening
  • ·         Purifying and Brightening
  • ·         Collagen Smooth
  • ·         Purifying and Hydrating
  • ·         Refining and Smooth
And their eye mask range includes:
  • ·         Bright Up Nano Eye mask
  • ·         Q10 reset Nano Eye mask
I bought my mask at my local Watsons for $9 but you can purchase it online at www.sasa.com for $8.50. BeautyMate has also enabled a certified stick on genuine and fresh products, so you can be worry free when purchasing overseas or online.

Before and after:
As you can depict, my skin was noticeably more bright and radiant. To be honest, my redness did not go away but it’s a good pick-me-up for dull skin.  (First photo: Before and Second: After) The lighting is different in each photo but you can see the obvious difference.

I rate this product 3/5! It did a good job in keeping my skin bright and radiant, but it did nothing for my acne. I would definitely repurchase this mask in another type as the price is unbeatable.

P.s I'm sacrificing my internet download for this blog post! I felt absolutely horrible for not posting so I hope this will make up for the lack of posts up to the 12th. After that, I'm free to post as much as I want!
