Review: Etude House Dear Darling Tint in 02 Real Red (에뛰드 하우스 디어 달링 틴트 02 리얼 레드)

Does a White Christmas even exist in Australia? Of course not, when we're in the Southern Hemisphere and is currently celebrating our first heat wave (I'm writing this in 40 degree weather).

So with Summer already away, I've been trying to transition my normal makeup into something suitable for summer. Though I have now discovered that I don't care about what's suitable in the Summer for my eye makeup. I love my dark eyeshadows and I'm not ready to part way with it... ever. But one thing I have fallen in love with is lip tints. Specially tints that have multi-uses!

Today I'll be reviewing the Etude House Dear Darling Tint in 02 Real Red!

What Is It?

Jelly lip tints help give a natural flush of colour with a moist finish.

- 4.5g
- Lightweight, clear, plastic tube
- Bright, Vibrant, long-lasting color
- Fruit extract & neon tint
- Mineral and Promegranate extract with Vitamin C
Use tip to gather and apply tint. Apply extra layer for added coverage and color.

Review: MWAVE KPOP Shop and signed BTS (Bangtan Boys) O!RUL8,2? album opening

MWAVE shop is a newly opened store by CJ E&M that sells KPOP related goods! Along side with their SHOP counterpart, MWAVE is the website for M!Countdown streaming and korean entertainment news.

If you didn't know already, my bias group is INFINITE and I'm a dedicated INSPIRIT. Near INFINITE would be BTS/Bangtan Boys though I don't consider myself an A.R.M.Y yet. Their songs are amazing, I definitely recommend I Like It, Coffee, Rise of Bangtan, and their title songs.

Asia’s No.1
Contents Company - CJ E&M
CJ E&M is a true leader in Asian cultural trends, providing diverse various media content and platform services for broadcast, movies, music, performance, and games! CJ E&M aims for the top with the slogan ‘Only One’.

Taken from MWAVE

The side of the box was slightly opened but everything else was fine

MWAVE shop offers special signed albums for a low and unbeatable price of US$13.99 so when I saw that they were selling signed BTS albums, I just had to get it. MWAVE is a relatively new store with very few reviews so I took the liberty of making one.

Review: O.S.T Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum + WishTrend Review

[Sponsored by WishTrend]

For a really long time, I have always wanted to try a serum. Because I wanted to lighten my acne scars, I stayed away from the more commonly found hyaluronic acid (which caters more for hydration). Looking at the natural remedies for fading acne scars, I found that vitamin C, along with vitamin E (which is one if the ingredients in Bio Oil), was a great choice.

WishTrend was kind enough to send me their O.S.T Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum to test. They packaged it safely with bubble wrapping and secured postage! Your signature is required upon receiving it.

What is WishTrend?

WishTrend is one of the most popular Korean skincare and makeup stores on the internet. Many YouTubers and Bloggers on the blogosphere have raved about their great customer service, with everything arriving in safely wrapped bubble wrap and a personalised “WishTrend” logo on their delivery boxes.

Rather than the conventional Korean road shop brands like Etude House, Innisfree, Nature Republic etc, they gather some of Korea’s best kept secret brands!

Klairs is slowly becoming a brand familiar to many skincare and makeup fanatics, you might have even heard of the Klairs BB cream that I want to try due to the great reviews.
They have fantastic customer service and always respond to my question fairly quickly. I definitely recommend their service!

What is the O.S.T Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum?

When looking at the ingredients list, the higher the rank of order, the more there is in the product. With water being first in the ingredients list, this means that water makes up most of it! Which is great compared to other products which mineral oils (pore clogging agent) and alcohol (drying) are placed first. Ascorbic acid, being second in line, is one form (vitamer) of vitamin C. Humans require vitamin C in their diet because we cannot synthesise it ourselves!

Vitamin C becomes unusable when exposed to sunlight so the glass bottle is tinted brown to prevent sunrays from penetrating. Both light and heat oxidise vitamin C so the tinted bottle allows the serum to last longer and be more effective for your skin. Make sure to keep it in a cooled place!

Like all reviewers always say, of course the glass bottle can be inconvenient for traveling but it is essential in the longetivity of the product. The dropper is also glass, with black rubber tubing.

The top has several indents to allow your fingers to find grip easily to open the bottle.

When I first received the packaging, the colour of the box was intriguing. Looking at it, it looks like a holographic coating but it is actually just the unique lines going across the box.

Opening the box, the serum was enclosed by a screw cap, with the dropper individually wrapped. So if you do decide to travel with this serum, you can always use the cap to avoid spillage!

The light orange serum is sticky in texture. I usually use 3 drops of the serum then spread it lightly between my hands and spread it across my face. It starts to get sticky fairly quickly. Though it absorbs quickly, especially after you apply your moisturiser.

The smell is hard to describe. There is a hint of orange with a sour and sweet medicinal scent. The medicinal scent is very light and the scent dissipates after application so don't worry!

[Now playing: INFINITE - Request]

The first time I used it, I experienced a not-so-pleasant tingling sensation like stated. It didn't necessarily sting but it was very close to it. I do worry for the sensitive skin users because I have combination skin and experienced it quite heavily. Though I do have dry patches and active acne which is probably why it stung more. After the first use, it gets better as your skin adapts to the ingredients.

Three drops is all you need for one application and I use it after showering. My routine goes from cleansing, toning, serum and then moisturiser. I spread it lightly (because it seems to develop into a milky texture when rubbed too heavily) to warm up the product and then either spread or pat it into my skin.

Within the next week, I felt like my acne was becoming less prominent. It did not break me out nor shrink my existing acne. Though my redness is accentuated straight after application, it seemed to be subdued rather quickly. My blackheads were still the same.

After 2-3 weeks, It is obvious that my pores have shrinked greatly. The blackheads on my cheeks lightened but my nose remained the same. This was one of the benefits I received from this product and I am extremely thankful for it! The serum did not make my skin oily, shiny or dry. To add, in the 2-3 weeks, I've only used a small amount. For your information, I use 3 drops after shower and depending on my mood, 2 more drops before I go to sleep.

On the downside, more acne did develop on my forehead but I'm not sure if that can be attributed to this serum. My diet got loose because it's nearing my birthday and I ended up eating more chocolate than I usually do. Another would be that my skin feels more itchy and I have the need to scratch it.

I think on the second day of using it, I found the bottle bubbled at the rim with slight spillage. I wasn't sure what happened but I ended up releasing all the product from the dropper before closing it and it never happened again! It may "crust" a bit on the sides of the bottle but it's easily removable.
Now, did my acne scars fade? Yes it did, to a small degree. However, my auntie noticed that my acne got better and commented on it, so it must be more visible to other people.

Other benefits I experienced include a slight lightening effect and softening. The product claims to be:
  • Revitalizing
  • Exfoliating
  • Whitening
  • Pore tightening
  • Recovering (trouble scars)
  • Blackheads removing

For a product that is relatively cheap for a serum, now on sale for USD $19.99, it did a great job. Generally, serums are more expensive because they are in a more concentrated form compared to toners, essences etc.

three drops

Looking back at the before and after... I don't remember my skin being that inflammed.
And so sorry for the slightly blurry 'before' photo! but I think it's fairly easy to see how red my skin was before due to my acne.

I used the Vitamin C serum before taking the "after" hence the shine. The "After" photo was taken after 3 weeks.

[Now playing: INFINITE - Destiny]

I rate this a 4/5! This product has helped with my skin, especially for my pores, and I thoroughly enjoyed using it. Would I repurchase this? Yes and no. Depending if I can find a better working serum for fading acne scars! I wouldn't call this an essential product but it definitely made my skin better so it depends on what problems you're trying to target. With that being said, the serum has already been incorporated into my daily skincare regime!

The product is best used in conjunction with their Vitamin Sleep 9 to 5 Crema and First Boosting Essence

P.S. It has now been 4 months since I have started using this product and I do recommend everybody to throw their's out after 3/4 months. The Vitamin C in the serum would have corroded by now and turned a dark orange!

Review: Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer (에뛰드 하우스 프루프10 아이 프라이머)

[NOW PLAYING: T-ara - Number 9]

Hello everybody! I finally got time to make another review post, and I know this one was due quite a while back. But the more times I use it, the more in-depth the review will be, right?

I wanted to try something different so every time I post something up, I'll include the songs I listened to while writing! Cute eh?

Anyways, on to the Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer. I bought this during my Hong Kong trip at one of their Mongkok stores because I've heard wonderful reviews on this. I've seen people claim this to be the dupe for Urban Decay's Primer potion, but I haven't tried that so I can't compare.

What is it?

The secret to long-lasting and vibrant eyeshadow that just won't quit, Proof 10 Eye Primer is designed to prevent eyeshadow from creasing and smudging, ensuring that eye makeup stays flawless even hours after application. Velvety soft formula easily glides on lid, instantly blending to provide a perfect base for eyeshadow to adhere on.

  • Proof 10 eye primer supplies coverage to eyelids and around the eye to enhance eye shadow color.
  • Integrity for a longer lasting, perfect 10 look.

  • How to use:

  • Use fingers to gently apply primer to upper and lower eyelids prior to eye shadow application.
  • Also applicable to eye lines prior to eyeliner application.
  • Pack Size - 10g/0.35oz

[NEW] Etude House "And Rose" Collection

Etude House recently released these photos of f(x)'s Sulli in preparation for their new Fall/Autumn line "And Rose"

Review: Etude House Proof 10 Auto Pencil Eyeliner in Black BK801 (에뛰드 하우스 프루프10 방수 펜슬 BK801 방수블랙)

If you were a beginner at makeup, people would normally recommend a pencil eyeliner. Why? Because it's easy to apply. Convenience and how "easy" it is to use would always be number one for someone learning the tips and tricks of makeup application. Only later on would someone move onto gel or liquid.

Today I'll be reviewing the Etude House Proof 10 Auto Eyeliner Pencil! I purchased this when I went to the Hong Kong Etude House store and I do not regret it at all.

    What is it?

Proof 10's waterproof eyeliner pencil supplies clean, intense definition for a long lasting, Perfect 10 smoky eye look. Comes with sharpener for fine line application.
Tear, Sweat and Smudge-proof, Amazing Waterproof effect.

Review and Haul: Blanc To Noir (with NYX products)

    Hi everybody~

Today I'll be doing a Blanc To Noir review and haul. I recently got in touch with my inner impulsive shopaholic so I ended up spending a lot of money in the last 2 months.

Blanc to Noir is an online only store which currently stocks brands such as NYX, Rimmel London, Sally Hansen, Milani and more! When I made my order, the only brands available were Sally Hansen, NYX and Rimmel London. So the brands are subject to change.

I ordered on the 23rd of June and my package totalled to around $31 dollars. The shipping was $9 and my actual order around $21. (This is a very belated post!)

They had a 30% off ALL NYX products and I just couldn't say no. Silly me because the next week, they were having a 40% off ALL NYX products sale... Good things come to those who wait.

Liebster Award + Versatile Blogger Award + Beauty Blogger Tag

Seems like I'm back early for a post I've never done before!

Hi everybody! I was nominated by the lovely Sakuranko for the Versatile Blogger Award and the Beauty Tag. While Shirley C nominated me for the Liebster Award! Both prestigious nominations that I'm extremely thankful for.

I find Blogger awards a great way for bloggers to support each other and find wonderful blogs!

    Liebster Award

    Rules of the Award:
    1. Each nominee must answer 11 questions that were asked by the blogger that nominated them.
    2. You must choose 11 bloggers who have under 200 followers to pass the award onto.
    3. Then come up with 11 questions that they will answer
    4. Go to their page and tell them that you have nominated them
    5. No tag backs

    My answers to Shirley's questions!

Q1. What inspired you to start blogging?
I've started learning how to use makeup since the age of fourteen when I would watch my sister do hers. I guess throughout the years, I have developed a love for all things beauty. I would read blog posts about the newest products, reviews, tutorials etc and I wanted to do that. Sharing my love for beauty was something I wanted to do.

Q2. What are the top three blogs you follow?

That's so extremely hard since I do love to read each and every single blog I follow. But I look forward to new posts by Sparkle Apple, Cominica and ekiBlog
Q3. If you were stranded on an island for a week, what are three things you would bring with you?

Useful items of course! Sunscreen, purified water and protective clothing.

Review: Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer in #3 Transparent (에뛰드 하우스 님프 광채 볼류머)

    Hello everybody!

Today I'll be reviewing the Etude House Nymph Aura volumer in #3 Transparent. This was actually one of the more expensive products I purchased at the Etude House Hong Kong Mongkok store. It was around 158 HK dollars, if I remembered correctly.

    What is it?
Have you ever watched a Korean drama and wondered how the actresses (and actors) have such dewy and healthy looking skin? The secret is a volumer! You can use it in a 1:3 ratio with your BB cream or foundation to promote a glowy look. Or you can use it alone on the highpoints of your face.

Nymph Aura Volumer is a multi-functional cream that maximizes the radiance and dewy glow on skin. Completes your look with a flawless finish with plumped and moisturized skin. Create a celebrity glow by mixing it with any liquid foundation, base, or BB cream to give skin a moist radiant look. Contains Argan Oil and Avacado Oil for anti-oxidant and skin elasticity care.

Review: Etude House Baby Choux Base 에뛰드 하우스 in 02 Berry Choux 베리슈

The inevitable return of the school holidays means the start of my regular posts again! I'm sure readers have already seen my MASSIVE Etude House haul from my Hong Kong trip and I did promise reviews for the products I have strong opinions about.

So after my review on the Etude House All Over Colour, I will proceed to review the Etude House Baby Choux Base!

    What is it?
The Etude House Baby Choux Base, from their Sweet Recipe range, can be used as a whitening base or highlighter. Each shade has a different purpose. #1 Mint Choux is for hiding redness, #2 Berry Choux is for evening skin tone while #3 Peach Choux is for brightening.

    What it claims:
    •   Make-up base that creates moisture inside and softness outside of skin.
    •   Base with full of moisture upgrades skin tone in one brighter tone.
    •   With its primer function, it remains soft make-up without shine for hours.
    •     Light and soft touch that feels like whipped cream melting on skin.
    •   SPF25 PA++

Review: Etude House Cupcake All Over Colour in Orange Choux Cake (OR201) (에뛰드 하우스 스윗 레시피 컾케익 올 오버 컬러)

    Hello readers!

I have a stream of Etude House reviews to write so why not start on the long weekends?

Today I will be reviewing the Etude House Cupcake All Over Colour in Orange Choux Cake (OR201)! If you have been following me for a while, you will know that I have been looking for the perfect orange multi-use product for cheeks and lips so I was very glad to try this product out.

    What is it?

The Cupcake All Over Colour comes in 5 colours and it's a multi use product for your eyes, cheeks and lips! It was introduced as a part of Etude House's Sweet Recipe range which is all about replicating sweet delicacies!

    cr: etude house

The Cupcake All Over Colour is sold in a tin casing with a raised roof so it looks like an actual cupcake! The packaging is a plastic see through 'box' to mimic the bakery boxes when you purchase cupcakes or cakes. I think it is an adorable touch to the product.

The Orange Choux Cake is a pure tangerine colour when swatched, but it does come off lighter on the lips. It is not overpowering and it's as natural as it can get for an orange tint. It's easily blendable and smells amazing! The first time I used it, I was knocked away by the smell. It's hard to describe but I think it's a mix of peach and citrus. The smell fades away after application. Since it's in a small tin, the problem of being hygenic arises. Though that is easily solvable by using a lip brush.

Because it is a cream product, I do find that it settles into the lines of my lips but not in a drying way. I cannot consider it as moisturising but it definitely does not dry your lips. The colour lasts for 3 hours on me if I do not drink or eat.

Also, I do not use this product on my eyes. I am extremely cautious about the products I apple near and on my eyes because I do not want to risk infections. Because I do usually use this product on my cheeks and eyes, I don't want to use it as a shadow.

If you compare the stock photos and my ones, you can tell that the texture looks different. When I purchased this, I was expecting it to come in a slight whipped form but that is not the case at all. It's actually a cream product. But either way, it still works well!

For the packaging, I would have liked it to be in a squeezy cream tube to eliminate the hassle of using a lip brush. The product isn't highly pigmented so it takes a long time building colour with a lip brush.

Also for the pigmentation, it might not show up a lot on people with a darker skin tone.

    On the lips:

    I give this product a 4/5!
It was exactly what I was looking for. It's perfect for school because the colour pay off is extremely natural (though it can be considered light as well).

The price was only around $7 as I bought it from an Etude House branch in Mongkok, Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Haul: Nature Republic, Biore, Majolica Marjorca, Canmake, JUJU Cosmetics (from SASA, Mannings & ColourMix) ♡

    Hello readers~
Sorry about the late post. The photo uploader stopped working on my original browser (Mozilla Firefox) so I had to download Google Chrome.
I had my half yearly exams a week ago and spent my holidays studying hard for it so I didn't get to blog. I hope this post makes up for it.
Without further ado, here is the last part of my beauty Hong Kong haul!

*ColourMix and SASA are both popular chain beauty stores found in Hong Kong. They are the equivalent to Sephora and Priceline!

*The prices are all estimations from the void in my memory. I completely forgot the prices so I had to make do with what I remembered.

Pond's Cold Cream purchased for HK$35 from Mannings. If you were to purchase this online, the price would exceed $30 so this was an absolute steal and I just had to try a beauty classic.

Majolica Marjoca Lash Expander Edge Meister Mascara from SASA for HK$128

My current favourite eyeshadow palette! The Kanebo KATE Gradical Eyes which was purchased in SASA for HK$90

The famous Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ Sunblock! I saw this in several Asian hauls and heard that it performs really well so I just had to snatch it!

My first ever highlighter, the Canmake highlighter in 01 Milky White purchased at SASA for HK $85. I tried searching for on their website but it was not shown.

SASATINNIE Scent of Rose Oil Blotting Paper HK $10

JUJU Cosmetics AquaMoist Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Lotion purchased at SASA for HK$128. I intially wanted to buy the Hadalabo one, but it was not available at that SASA. It was such a shame because I saw it in a Colour Mix store I visited on the same day for a cheaper price.

I'm sure people who are interested in Korean beauty now about this. This is the popular Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel which can be multi-functional! You can use this as a mask, soothing gel, while shaving and after sun exposure. Purchased at ColourMix

It took me 4 tries to effectively use the Koji Eyetalk Glue. It definitely works well, even on my natural double eyelids. It costed HK$68 at SASA

And the last product is the EOS lipbalm. When I saw this for HK$33 at Colourmix, I just had to get it. It costs around $10 for me to get my hands on this lip balm in Australia! With all the hype, I was expecting a great product but the EOS Lemon Drop SPF 15 Lip Balm definitely did not live up to the hype. I do not recommend this to anybody with dry lips. It hardly nourishes and I find myself reapplying it over and over again.

I had trouble uploading photos with my Mozilla Firefox browser so I had to download Google Chrome! This post was supposed to be up a few days ago, but the photo uploader stopped working.

I hope everybody is doing well!

    Where to buy?
