How To: Korean Cleansing Method (Korean Skincare #1)

Hi everybody!

I'm back with a how to, and this time, we're focusing on the Korean cleansing method!

Have you ever wondered how Koreans always seem to have clear glowing skin? Aside from their makeup secrets and use, they have a very meticulous skincare routine.

Suzy from Miss A swears by this method for clear skin and if you didn't know who she is..

She's the maknae (youngest member) from the JYP group Miss A. She's famous for her innocent charms and great skin which has earned her the title of  'Nation's first love'.

Let's get started.

What you'll need:

  • Cleansing oil
  • Cleansing foam

What are the benefits of using a cleansing oil?

Don't be afraid of the word 'oil'. This is perfectly okay to use for people with oily/combination skin like mine. It's actually an effective product to help calm the skin from environmental factors like pollution. Cleansing oils are free from any skin-burning and harsh chemicals sometimes present in other forms of cleansers and can stop inflammed skin. Cleansing oils are great make-up removers and this is one of the main reasons as to why Korean uses it as the first step.

What are the benefits of using a foaming cleanser?

If you have dry skin, it's important to not use a foaming cleanser for a long duration as it can strip away your natural skin oil, leaving your skin even drier. It's gets rid of the impurities collected throughout the day like excess oil, dirt, bacteria and sweat. This is a great way of cleaning your pores so you won't break out in pimples. It draws impurities out from the skin.

I'm using the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and The Face Shop Herb Day 365 Cleansing Foam.

Step 1: Use the cleansing oil as the first step of your cleansing routine.

Step 2: Pump at least 2 pumps of cleansing oil to ensure that it will emulsify well.

Step 3: Massage the oil well into your skin for around 1 minute.

Step 4: After a minute, wet your hands and massage your skin gently till the cleansing oil emulsifies.

Step 5: After 3 minutes of massaging, rinse off the residue well with lukewarm water. This will prep your pores for the next step!

Step 6: Rub the foaming cleanser between your hands to create a good amount of foam. I've found that a lot of Korean like to foam up their cleanser before apply it to the skin. This is an effective way of

Step 7: Apply the foam to your face and massage for 2 minutes.

Step 8: Rinse off with COLD water to close the pores and stop any dirt or bacteria from getting trapped back in your pores. Remember to splash the water on to your skin and to never put it under running water.

Step 9: Pat your face dry using a towel or facial sponge then proceed to the rest of your skincare routine!

It's essential to massage your face when cleansing. This will help maximise the effectiveness of the product and help prevent skin sagging from improper handling of your delicate skin!

You can use this cleansing method for morning and night! Remember, you don't have to follow exactly what I posted, feel free to experiment to see what is best for YOUR skin.

Until next time, annyeong~

Summer Favourites ♡

Hi everybody! ♡

I know I promised a Dolly Wink review but I currently have relatives over so I decided to do something quick. It'll be up soon!

Today, I'll be sharing with you my current Summer Favourites. It's still Summer here in Australia and it might be too early to post a Summer Favourites but I've been using these products everyday and I cannot see myself going without any of them.

The Evian facial spray is a lifesaver. It can be used as a toner, primer and makeup setting spray. The mist helps mask any cakeyness, giving me a beautiful hydrated Korean glow. If you spray it on before bed, you'll wake up with flowing skin. For an in-depth review, click here.

I recently purchased this because my old sunscreen (The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch sunscreen) was running out. Even though I bought it on a whim, it works well and doesn't give me a greasy afterlook.

Now on to my current toner! Witch Hazel is great for acne prone skin because it is a natural astringent and can reduce the inflammation of acne. However, the downside to this product is that is might intially sting for sensitive skin and the smell is awful. But don't worry, you'll get used to as I don't even realise it anymore! I used to apply this while holding my breath.

My trusty Skin 79 bb cream is my go to face product. If I had to choose only one makeup product to use for the rest of my life, it'll be this. It adjusts to my skin tone extremely quickly so you don't have to worry about the obvious foundation line! I have a review and demo of this product: Review / Demo

When I think of Summer in Australia, I think of natural glowing bronzed skin. However, I'm more into the Korean makeup look so I opt for subtle contouring instead. The contour powder isn't exactly pigmented but still gives me the natural shaped jaw effect. The blush is highly pigmented and gives me a brilliant rosy blush. The pink highlighter is also gorgeous and can be used to highlight below my brow bone or on top of my blush. The white matte highlighting powder is the only downside to this product. As you can see, it is chalky and blends right into the skin so there is no highlighting effect at all. Sometimes I use it as normal mattifying powder.

Should I make a skincare post? I've been using the Olay moisturiser for almost 2 years and I love it! I break out easily so whenever I find I product that doesn't trigger my pimples, I will stock up on it. The Olay moisturiser only costs around AU$11.

And last but not least, the newest makeup product added to my collection! I'll be reviewing this later on but there's one thing I can say; it does not disappoint at all.

Until next time, annyeong!

Haul: Korean Beauty Samples (Innisfree, Nature Republic, The Face Shop etc) and Dolly Wink!

Hello readers~

My auntie recently went to Korea for work and decided to delight me with all the free samples she got from visiting various stores like The Face Shop, Innisfree and Nature Republic. I asked her to purchase a few products from Holika Holika, Etude House and Skinfood but coincidently, she didn't manage to find the stores. BUt that's okay because I'm happy for the many samples she gave me.

As for the Dolly Wink, my cousin went over to Hong Kong and I got him to buy it for me!

I didn't know Nature Republic sold hair ranges in their store!

You guys know how much I love the Skin79 Hot Pink Triple Functions BB cream right? I was intially contemplating between the gold or pink label so I'm glad I received a sample of the gold one!

I've never tried a peeling gel mask before, but I'm a little hesitant to try it since it does not include a brand name.
The TonyMoly (blue packet) Dear Me Waterful Skin moisturiser/mask is extremely tempting right now in the hot Australian weather.

Dolly Wink, bought from SASA - HK $105 = Around AU$13

Hopefully I'll be reviewing some of these products soon.
If you have a review request, feel free to comment down below!

Take care and until next time, annyeong~

I appreciate every subscriber and reader, thank you.

My Week in Pictures: Australia Day and Back to School

Hello readers~
I know Australia Day (26th of January) was last week, but I decided to include it in my post.
It's back to school for me so it implies a decline in posts, which is also the result of my lack of beauty purchases. However, my cousin came back from Hong Kong and brought along with him Korean and Japanese cosmetics and skincare for me to try! Thank you, I can't wait to try it out.

Now time for the sad news. It's seems like my planned trip to Korea will be disturbing my assessment schedule so my parents and I have decided to delay it. To two years time.

At least my Hong Kong trip is still going ahead. Don't worry, there will be a Hong Kong travel post.

The lack of sun in Sydney for the past few days have influenced my edited photos. Should I change my template?

Eating at Casa Di Nico has limited our seating choices. We ended up sitting on the opposite end with Wild Life, Madame Tussauds and the Sydney Aquarium of the fireworks display but still managed to get a good view.

I had a huge problem with the people sitting in front of us. It was extremely hard taking photos and a lot of them included their heads and other body parts.

Had huge focusing problems with this picture but I couldn't help but add this to my post. The wings are gorgeous!

Ate dinner at the Casa Di Nico Italian restaurant on King Street Wharf. There was no aircon in the facility, which lead me to look like a sweaty mess. But overall, the food was plesant. I recommend the semi freddo dessert and homemade gnocchi with smoked salmon.

Fish and chips on the last day of my school holidays and green tea which is regularly drink to keep stress away and my skin clear.

I had a small mental breakdown when I was issued with my Year 11 Senior Assessment Schedule. If other people lived through it, I can too! And hopefully, I won't suffer from Senioritis any time soon.

For the new school year, I decided to retire my old taupe coloured backpack for my newly puchased YesStyle/YesWalker leather bag.

Chinese New Year/Luner New Year is just 8 days away and my mother has already purchased some goods. Did I mention that I enjoy CNY more than New Years?

*the lower quality photos were taken with my iPod Touch.

I hope everyone is having a good day.
Until next time, annyeong~
