Review: Nature Republic Snail Therapy 50 BB Cream SPF 30 PA++ (네이처리퍼블릭 비비크림)

Hii everybody! My 2 week holiday has officially started and that means you can expect more posts from me! I currently have 3 I'm planning so far and I'm going to make it my goal to pump it all out in the first week. Anyways, I'm so excited to start blogging again. Without further ado, here's my review for:

Nature Republic Snail Therapy 50 BB Cream!

credits to tgiwholesale

According to koreadepart, this product has been discontinued but renewed to Snail BB Cream (without the 50, and different packaging). I was really sad to hear that because I was thinking of repurchasing this product but that's okay!

Capacity: 40ml
SPF: 30 PA++
Shade ranges: 01 and 02. I have 02 and it is perfect for my NC20-25 skin when oxidised.
Price: US$22~ My auntie bought this for me so I cannot give a definite price.

So what is the benefit of snail mucin? (taken from wisegeek)
Snail mucin, or slime/gel, is believed to have superior healing properties and popularly used in facial masks and peels. It is thought to be able to improve skin texture, elasticity and appearance.

Snail extract is found to be rich in glycolic acid, collagen, vitamins A, C and E, and elastane.

The history of snail mucin:
Helix Aspersa is the Latin name for the breed of snail used in French cuisine. Recently however, this snail has been bred especially for its mucus because of its touted healing properties. The mucus was discovered in Chile by Chilean snail farmers, farming snails for the French food market. It was found to heal workers’ cuts and scrapes much faster than the normal healing process.
Snails produce a sticky slime that enables them to slide along, even on the roughest surface, with a relative ease. This slime or mucus decreases the amount of friction the snail experiences when traveling along. Snail mucus is also utilized by the snail to repair its own shell upon cracking or breaking. A doctor living in the region in Chile discovered that the snail farmers were experiencing the phenomenon, and began to study the snail mucus.
Packaging:
Though this BB cream looks like it has a hard exterior, it is actually a squeeze tube. You compress the maroon body for the product to be released out of the sponge hole. A lot of people seem to use the sponge to apply the BB cream on to the skin with a stippling motion but I tried that the first time, and it is very hard. Hard to apply evenly and hard on the skin. The sponge actually hurts so I do not recommend that method. Sadly I realised that too late and my sponge was already dirty.

The lid is platinum gold coloured (not actual gold LOL)

Texture:
So I will talk about the texture of the product, how it feels on the skin and what finish it has.
It does not have an overally thick consistency but it is not as thin as a CC cream. It blends beautifully and does not accentuate my dry patches even though it finishes semi-matte. This BB cream is perfect for Spring and Autumn where it is not very hot nor very cold. I recommend the Face Shop CC Cream (blue writing with Suzy) for the Summer due to the matte finish and SKIN79 Hot Pink BB cream for Winter due to the moisturising properties.
The product feels very soft on the skin, eliminating the 'caked' feeling.

Colour:
This BB cream blends beautifully, only a peasized amount is enough for the entire face and neck. My BB cream routine can be viewed here. What I found amazing after this product was that the coverage improves as time goes on. Initially when you finish applying the product, the coverage is around a medium but 20 minutes in, all your redness is gone. It does a great job at concealing my acne and my dark eye circles, with no need for concealer. This could differ from individual to individual but the Nature Republic Snail Therapy BB cream has a solid Medium < coverage that you can build to your desires.

Product:
This product is my first Nature Republic item ever and I have not been disappointed.
On the areas where the BB cream is applied, it may look paler than your skintone but it will adjust, the beauty of BB creams! Some BB creams may have an obvious grey cast but I find that this has a slight warm undertone.

It does have a natural brightening outcome, perfect for achieving the desired Korean porcelain skin. If you're looking for a BB cream with little/no SPF and lightening property, check out the Etude House Magic BB cream which I reviewed!

Definitely recommend. 4.7/5! For oily, dry, normal or combination skin individuals, this is a product to try! (If it wasn't discontinued....)

'After' was taken immediately after application. It was applied using fingers.
