Haul and Review: Missguided | Monochrome fever with dresses, skorts and skirts

Hi guys!

I am back with a Missguided haul that I purchased in the first week of the holidays. Have I mentioned that I have an insatiable appetite for online shopping when I’m studying for exams? I need to find a better way to relieve stress properly… without leaving me broke.

I only purchased three things and this haul would be the second (?) clothing haul I have ever done. I’ve bought so many things with the intention of blogging about it but then I forget and school swallows me over. But today I’ve decided to have a nice small break and have a special haul post.

Life updates: I got a haircut! | Girl's Day Sojin inspired

Now playing: AOA - Short Hair ♪ ♫

Hi everybody! This is just a short update to tell you that I cut my hair~ It's been a while since I've cut my hair but it was much needed. My long hair was getting unruly and the brown ends that I dyed a few years back were due for a trim.

I went to the local hairdressers and showed him this photo of Sojin from Girl's Day because I wanted her fringe.

complete credits to zimea on devianart (here is the link)
I think it turned out pretty well considering the situation last time. I don't want to reiterate but it was just a hot mess and took a while for me to grow out. The trick when cutting your hair is to ALWAYS show them the length you want plus an extra 6cm just in case they cut it too short. I got it slightly longer than I usually do because I wanted long hair for my formal/graduation at the end of the year.

When he was cutting my hair, he shared a few tips for hair loss. Firstly, do not ever wash your hair is hot water. Lukewarm/cold is best. And for layers, only get a few as the more you get, the more thin your hair tends to look. In addition, people with long hair tend to suffer more hair loss because each strand weighs down the hair root so short hair is preferable.

And here are the results!

ipad mini front camera quality

spot the ukiss and ze:a posters at the back

I ended up cutting a solid 20cm off, and it feels great not having hair caught when I wear my school back pack. Long hair girls will agree right?!

And the front looks like this

excuse the no makeup face, exams = dark circles + bad skin

So not completely similar to Sojin's hair but I am content!

Though looking at my old long hair photos is making me miss it just a tad bit. That's why listening to AOA's Short Hair makes me feel a lot better. Haven't heard the song yet? It definitely grows on you and refuses to detach itself.

This was a short update on my life but I will be back soon for another beauty review.

Until next time, annyeong~

Review: Dr. Young Anti Pore: Pore Eraser Balm | Benefit Porefessional Dupe?

When trying to perfect the best makeup look, skincare and preparation is of utmost importance. However, pores and oily skin are very hard to manage as it takes a long time to see a noticeable difference. That's why primers were developed. To fake the "pore-fect" base to optimise your makeup experience.

Today, I will be sharing with you the Dr Young Anti Pore: Pore Eraser Balm, which reminds me a lot of the Benefit Porefessional Primer.

Dr. Young Anti Pore: Pore Eraser Balm 15g ($38)
Full size product: 15g($38)

Product Description
Enriched with witch hazel extracts, Swiss alpine herb extracts, marine collagen, and vitamin 5, the pore eraser balm is a primer perfect for featuring the soft, silky porcelain skin. This pore primer will even all the lines and enlarged pores and control excess sebum for a long-lasting look.

How to use
After skincare, apply adequate amount on areas with visible pores or oily spots.

Life:
It expires 3 years after the manufacturer date.
So in all retrospect, these two primers are silicon based. They both work the same way. They "fill" the pores to create an even canvas, and in turn, it can also mattify and minimise redness. I have demonstrated this using an orange for your viewing pleasure.

As you can see, the crevices are filled. This creates a smooth base and gives the "pore-less" appearance. It also has a blurring effect on the skin.

Now without further ado, let's get on to the review!

Packaging:
I dropped this once when I was trying to move the jar. It is quite heavy due to the glass jar, but I like the feeling of security and sturdy packaging.  Though it is not practical.

It has a screw off cap and a plastic separator to keep the product soft and fluffy.

Texture:
It is extremely light and silky, just like the Benefit Porefessional primer. However, I do think the Dr. Young Pore Eraser is lighter in feeling. Blends like a dream and sinks quickly into the pores.

Colour:
The colour is lighter than the Benefit Porefessional in an off-white. The best way I can describe it is "skin colour" so it can complement all skintones.

Performance:
This pore eraser balm does a good job at creating a silky base. In turn, it also mattifies the skin making your makeup look fresher for longer. No more oily qualms!

It smells like baby powder directly from the jar but quickly dissipates on application.

For this review, I wore this primer on the left side of my face and the Benefit Porefessional on the right hand side. 6 hours in, they both performed similarly. It was starting to get shiny, but only slightly to give the skin a "natural glow". I have combination skin and tend to get oily easily on the T-zone and cheeks area. My skin was still had the initial "silky" finish and there were no dry patches evident.

When I first wore it, my initial impressions was that it blended really well. You could immediately see the difference with my pores, most of them were covered. I have attached below a photo of my results for better demonstration purposes.

none of these photos have been altered

The first photo is of my bare skin, with nothing applied (not even moisturiser or toner). As you can see, my pores are bigger around near my nose to my smile lines. You can distinctively see the "black holes" and it makes my makeup look disastrous. It really is quite embarrassing showing that picture of my pores but it validates my review with proof.

The second picture is after applying the Pore Eraser balm. The pores are drastically minimised, blurring to the point of it almost vanishing! However you can still see a few, especially some of the bigger ones. On my nose, the appearance of black heads have also lessened. Redness is slightly covered as well.

And the last photo is of my skin with the Dr. Young Pore Eraser and my Innisfree Long Wear Cushion BB cream (which I will review soon!). The results speak for themselves as I have achieved an almost flawless base. Used in conjunction with cover up, it really optimises the Pore Eraser's pore erasing powers. It made my skin feel silky and smooth to the touch.

General comments:
In my honest opinion, I do think the Benefit Porefessional primer is better. It is packaged in an easy squeezable tube, making it travel friendly and it also has more product. But the Dr. Young Eraser Balm is enriched with skin optimising ingredients, probably even improving your skin texture with long use. It is also cheaper as well, depending on where you live.

Technically all silicon based primers work the same so it really depends on whether you want the product in a more travel-friendly tube or a sturdy glass jar.
If you are in Australia, the retail price is AUD$53 for the Benefit Porefessional, compared to the US$38 of the Dr. Young Pore Eraser Balm. The Dr. Young Pore Eraser Balm was included in one of their Pore Care Memeboxes but not available for individual sale YET on their site. Make sure to visit their website time and time again because they constantly update their products.

Unboxing and Review: Memebox Special #6 Whole Grains

*memebox discount codes down below*

Do you have sensitive skin? Or in a need for a way to gently exfoliate your skin? Whole grains is the answer to your questions! When I saw that Memebox was selling a Whole grains box, I had a huge urge to buy it. But luckily the team at Memebox seemed to have read my mind and sent this for me to review! Huge thanks!

Due to the fact that I am almost done with my trial exams, I’ve decided that it’s now time to start writing all the blog posts that I have accumulated in a week. And boy, there are quite a few!

So without further delay, here is my review and unboxing from Memebox’s new Whole Grain box!

For information about shipping, handling etc please refer to my previous posts: {3th Global Edition, 4th Global Edition, 6th Global Edition, Free from Oils and Troubles, 10 Minute Box, Hair and Body #2}

Just a comment before we get into the pictures: This box is definitely one of my favourite ones I have received. I would rank this second behind my first Memebox ever, the 3rd Generation Global. These exams have been making me suffer acne from stress and late night studying. I thought resorting back to natural-based products will help set my skin anew again.

Wholegrains are the ultimate gift from Mother Nature because it provides all around beauty benefits from head to toe. Gentle enough for even the most sensitive types of skin, yet powerful enough to buff away dead skin cells and encourage surface cell turnover, whole grains will leave skin feeling soft, smooth and radiant. Rich in vitamins A and E, whole grains are full of antioxidants that promote cell respiration and also stimulate the production of anti-inflammatory compounds, slowing down the ageing process.

1.       Grinif Nature Oatmeal Scrub Bar 130g ($9) Full size

This 100% organic homemade cleansing bar is actually packed with natural ingredients like oatmeal, rice bran, mung beans, red beans, shea butter and jojoba oil! Wow that is a mouthful.

I am extremely lazy in exfoliating my skin because I actually don’t have an exfoliating product. I usually make it from a mixture of oatmeal, cane sugar and honey but that takes time. So this product is perfect for people with sensitive skin or wants a way to gently exfoliate the skin.

I usually don’t use facial soaps but this natural homemade bar has me intrigued. I will definitely use it in the foreseeable future.

2.       Herbclinic Rice Bran Power 80g ($8)

If you following Memebox Global on Facebook, you would have seen the “hint” picture they uploaded of this product. This is 100% RAW Rice Bran powder to instantly revive and nourish your skin. I’ve never tried rice bran powder before but I used to drink tea from rice bran which my auntie claimed is wonderful for your skin. It’s true, I used to have glowing skin as a child!

You mix this with either oatmeal, brown rice or whatever you want and an adequate amount of milk until it turns into a thick paste.

3.       Purebess Galactomyces 100% 50ml ($15)

Truthfully, I have never heard of galactomyces before so I researched about the ingredient. What I gather it to be is a genus of fungi in the family of Dipodascaceae. It is supposed to improve skin elasticity, helping to uplift wrinkles.

Other brands like TonyMoly and PureHeal also have products containing Galactomyces. Personally, I am trying to find a way to minimise my smile lines so I cannot wait to try this.

4.       Purebless Galactomyces 80 Eye Cream 50ml ($20)

Upon research on this product, I found that it retails for around $22AUD on eBay. This is the promotional picture for it:

It is a natural fement that is used in brewery. The founder discovered that the master who was brewing yeast had supple and resilient hands. It is also the same ingredient of SK-II’s famous essence. But this product is so much more affordable! Sandy is happy because she has always wanted to try the essence.

You can also use this eye cream as a face cream.

5.       PureDerm Anti-Stress Heat Therapy Mask Oatmeal 150ml ($12)

This mask is strange. It smells, looks and feels like shampoo. Very heavily perfumed but is very moisturising…. Exactly like hair conditioner. Is this part of the anti-stress component? I would have thought it would be scented slightly more forgiving, with lavender or chamomile. But nevertheless, it does heat up quickly after application. Have yet to try this.

6.       PureDerm Rice Bran Collagen Mask 18ml x 2ea ($5)

Love sheet masks. Come to me.

7.       PureDerm Daily Moisturizing Hand Mask Oatmeal 1pair ($7)

After exams, this will be the perfect way to wind down and take care of my hands after two weeks of rough writing. Am I the only one who develops weird bumps in the places where I hold my pen too tightly? I definitely need to treat my hands soon.

8.       PureDerm Invigorating Foot Scrub Walnut 25ml ($4)

Strange, it’s like Memebox just read my mind! I was meaning to buy a body scrub for a while now but I guess this can substitute the urge to open my wallet.

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General comments:
This box had a total of $64 worth of products, not including the individual masks. With, it has a total cost of $80.

The Whole Grains box is priced at $23 + $6.99 shipping cost. Many times, with their constant discount deals and sales, you would be able to get a box for around $10! The more you buy, the more memebox points you gather that can be exchanged for goods.

Like always, here are the current discount codes that you can use for Memebox.

Haul and Review: To February + GIVEAWAY!

As a fan of Korean fashion and pop, I inevitably found this store ToFebruary due to their cute accessories and clear layout (Yes, I love my simple colours and templates).

Today I’ll be reviewing the items available at ToFebruary and their service!

Shipping times:
The item was shipped on the 28th of June and arrived on the 11th of July. It arrived safely in a padded envelope-like package.

All the bracelets, necklaces and rings were packaged together in a small delicate box.

INFINITE Titanium Bracelet

If you know me, you would know that I am a Korean Pop fan and stan INFINITE and VIXX. INFINITE was the first group I have ever loved and they also had the privilege of being my first album ever (INFINITIZE). So when I saw this bracelet, I knew I had to get it. I already have multiple INFINITE/INSPIRIT bracelets but none of this quality.

I have a small wrist and these fit well in accommodating me with the adjustable claw.

AND today, I will be giving one away! Just go straight to the bottom of my blog post.

 Bunny Ear Headband

I really like Usagi headbands and with this one, only the “ears” are mendable. I wish there was a different colour available because it does not stand out with my dark hair. This is possibly my favourite item!

The headband itself is quite thin but the ears are of good quality. There is a lace overlay.

The Master’s Sun Necklace in 925 Silver Large

The Master’s Sun has shown me the light that is So Ji Sub and Go Hyo Jin. I initially was afraid of watching this because I really cannot take horror at all, but it is not a big aspect of the drama. After a while, you get used to it… Though the first episode really shocked me.  To be honest I only started watching this because Myungsoo/L  from INFINITE acts as the younger So Ji Sub but I stayed for the plot and other characters.
In this drama, So Ji Sub gives Go Hyo Jin this necklace and I found the design really impeccable. I’m a lover of simplistic designs and silver jewellery so this was a must!

The quality isn't very sturdy though I can imagine myself getting a lot of wear out of this. It is a good replica of the necklace worn by Go Hyo Jin!

    Angel Wing Earrings

Why did I get these earrings? Because Dongwoo from INFINITE used to wear a lot of “winged” designs and then the obsession rubbed off onto me. I’m currently still wanting the “Winged” Adidas hoodie he wore in their Paradise practice dance.

The earrings are exactly the same as the photos. Love it! And it is just the right size. Just remember to check all the measurements before purchasing any jewellery or clothing.

Mousie Earrings

Honestly I wanted these pair of earrings because 1. I adore Mickey Mouse 2. I love drop earrings. This pair is a perfect embodiment of the things I love!

Each item had the "made in Korea backing.
They feel slightly heavy on the ears.

       SeungRi Panda Ring

Lovely Cara from ToFebruary added this ring into the package as a kind gesture, thank you so much! The problem with rings for me is that my hands are quite slender and most of the time, they don’t fit me. However, this ring is just one size bigger meaning I can still wear this out, but with another "helper" ring to keep it from falling off.

ToFebruary has graciously given me a 10% code for my readers: enter "yoonyee10" into the checkout for your discount :-)

So now, onto the GIVEAWAY!~

ToFebruary has kindly allowed me to host an INTERNATIONAL giveaway and I was able to choose between the Bunny Ear headband or the INFINITE titanium bracelet. I asked on Twitter which one people wanted and the INFINITE titanium bracelet was highly requested so today, I’ll be giving ONE bracelet away to a lucky winner!

All you have to do is enter via RaffleCopter down below! This giveaway will last until the end of July (after my exams) so I will have time to provess everything.

I will contact the winner through Twitter and they will have 3 days to respond.

If anything goes wrong or if you have a question, do feel free to tweet me! You'll be able to get a quicker response there.

Unboxing and Review: Memebox Hair and Body #2

 *memebox discount codes down below*

Ouch~ This is a late post but I have a good reason~ My exams are soon so I've been trying to study diligently for them. But today I've been feeling under the weather so I decided to be at least somewhat productive. This is going to be a short post though, I hope you guys don't mind~

Like always, I'm going to skip the shipping and delivery details because they can be seen in my previous posts. {3th Global Edition, 4th Global Edition, 6th Global Edition, Free from Oils and Troubles, 10 Minute Box}

This time, the box arrived in padded packaging, contrary to the last few I received that were actually wrapped in bubble wrap.

The lavender oil and slimming cream definitely got my attention immediately!

One of the problems I find with myself and a lot of people is that we tend to neglect our body, and take extra care of our face. Hey, our body needs some love too right?! So when I received this box I was extremely grateful, I get to try new items I have never used before!

Did you know that our neck and hands are the areas that show the first signs of ageing?

1. Kocostar Foot Therapy 40ml ($9)

This is a foot peeling pack that you used after cleansing and have to secure with attached adhesive tape. Sounds fussy but this honestly sounds like a fun product and my feet are in desperate need for a pampering.

Product description: "It basically looks like a pair of translucent socks that you wear and fore the next few days, dead skin will peel off from your feet and voila- the softest and smoothest feet you've always longed for!"

"Soak your feet in the gel for around 1.5 hours then wash it off gently with soap. Dead skin will start to peel off within the next 3-4 days" FANCY

 2. Label Young Shocking Holjjuki 100ml ($21)

This one-step body slimming cream is enriched with natural ingredits like green tea and algae extracts to reveal a sleeker, more even body line. Perfect for me because I've been gaining winter weight. No, please go away!

It also has a thermal effect to have reinforce the slimming properties. This would be the first slimming product I've tried and I will definitely write something here after using it! Please come back a bit later for a small note.

3. Hello Everybody Spa Vita Berry Shampoo & Treatment 30ml
Full size product: 220ml ($38)

Did I mention that this whole box smells like berries? Smells delicious, I love having the box in my room. The product is pretty self explainatory. I want to use the hair treatment soon and have my hair smelling sweet for the winter months.

4. Vidanail L.Vida Lavender Oil 10ml ($10)
Full size

If you follow me on Twitter (@hiyoonyee), you'll know that I tried this last week. This smells amazing, I absolutely LOVE lavender and the real pieces in the nail oil adds great aesthetic pleasure.

The oil immediately adds great shine to my nails but it does not absorb quickly at all. So I do not recommend you use this while studying or working... like I did. I ended up needing to wipe it off.

 5. Evas Cosmetics Body 7Days Project 200ml ($6)
Full size product

I thought this was a Bath and Body's work product until I remember that was not a Korean brand..  I rarely use shower gels so maybe this will be a great time to start. The Berry Complex type was randomly selected from a few other ingredients like Grapefruit and Rose.

6. Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Argan Oil Essence 60ml ($31)
Full size product

Half of all my hair products have come from Memeboxes.. Thank you! Unlike skincare products, hair products can rarely go wrong, making is a great addition to anyone's beauty collection! Have yet to use this but smells like Head and Shoulders (my favourite shampoo). Actually, a lot of the products from my Memeboxes have landed their way into my Skincare and beauty routine. Check out my winter beauty routine here.

1. November discount code is EFR5HP.
Enter the code at checkout to get $5 off for orders $30+.
2. Get an automatic $10 off orders $150+ through my advert on the side

I'm off to study for my upcoming exams. If you have any questions about these products, please feel free to leave a comment and I will do my best to help you! I check my blog everyday~

Until next time, annyeong~
