Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask Review 이니스프리 수퍼 화산송이 모공 마스크 리뷰

My favourite masks are not the sheet kind, but clay masks. I'll be sharing with you my review of the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask. I used to have a problem with my oily and acne prone skin which tended to enlargen my pores but with purifying masks, it has become controllable.

On the packaging, it claims to:

Tighten pores + remove sebum + exfoliate dead skin cells + offer deep cleansing + enhance skin tone + provide cooling effect.

"This clay mask with its super volcanic cluster capsules powerfully absorbs sebum to resolve pore concerns"

There are two versions of this product. The normal volcanic pore clay mask and the SUPER version which I am reviewing. The difference is the presence of volcanic capsules in the Super version.

If you really know me, underneath the 'hipster' nickname my friends like to call me, I prefer simplicity. Innisfree is a brand known for their 'simple white' and 'boring' packaging however I think it's quite nice.

The Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask is in a brown plastic (?) jar with a shiny chocolate brown twist cap. It has the words "jeju volcanic pore clay mask. pore cleansing and care." inscribed on the top. Also a quick note, Innisfree is known for their use of ingredients grown from Jeju Island.

I have not noticed any drying of the product so I would say the packaging is sufficient in keeping the mask in its' original condition. This product was bought in August and it has been used for almost 4 months.

Very hard to describe but if I were to use words to give my best description, it would be "what you could smell if you were to stand close enough to a stagnant volcano". Not unpleasant.

I've used a few clay masks before so I'll be comparing this product generally and to the St Ives Timeless Skin Mineral Clay Mask.

One major advantage with this Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask is that it is not uncomfortable on the skin at all. With other masks you might have the clay settle harshly onto the skin, restricting facial movement. However this is a very flexible clay mask, allowing you room to move. It doesn't crack but will flake off slowly if you were to apply it for too long (40mins+).

The volcanic capsules are a nice touch to this product but truthfully, there is very little exfoliation happening. Capsules are small (Good for people with sensitive skin though). Sure you have to spread the mask over your skin evenly but using circular motions when exfoliating normally shouldn't be done. It does dry quite quickly (like normal clay masks) and sometimes if I apply too slowly, the new product I want to apply over the already applied areas seems to break off the previous applied product. (sorry about the overuse of the word "applied"). However what you can do is when rinsing off the product with water, use the left over volcanic capsules to gently exfoliate with circular motions. Water makes it much easier for exfoliation.

I wanted to include a before and after photo but unfortunately I did not take a photo from the first use. With purifying pore products, results do not come from instant use. You have to diligently use it as part of a routine for affects to show. I can definitely say that my skin has improved from August. I personally purchased this product when I started noticing how big my pores were becoming and to make the unsightly disappear, I managed to buy it. It was a great choice and I recommend this mask to everybody.

My pores have tightened, my blackheads are now smaller and skin is less oily. Sebum was decreased and it feels amazing everytime I rinse the mask off. However I don't think there is a cooling effect with this clay mask.

I definitely recommend this product. For  people who do not like the sight of pores when clay masks are fully dried, this is a great option compared to the St Ive Mineral Clay Mask as it doesn't badly accentuate the look of your pores. I purchased my Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask on eBay for around US$15.

Wednesday, 26 November 2014 Cosmetics Haul and Review or is another popular Korean cosmetic online store which ships worldwide for as little as US$2.50 standard shipping. When they asked me if I could review some of their products for them, how could I possibly reject? Since they asked so nicely and I've always been wanting to work with them.

Ship date: 31st of October 2014
Arrival date: 26th of November 2014

Items usually take between 10~20 business days to arrive but with the upcoming holiday season fast approaching, delays are inevitable.

When I enquired about the possibility of the package being lost, Lee Ji Eun from Jolse quickly replied within a day assuring me that it should come soon. Very kind customer service. And one thing they told me was that @auspost on Twitter can track your parcel for you if you are ever worried about it, so that's some new neat information.

So here are all the items I received in the package!

1. Aritaum World Glam Coating Tint in 06 SEOUL
2. Skinfood Rose Essence Soft Cream Blusher in 04 ORANGE ROSE
3. TonyMoly Crystal Blusher in 07 BRONZING BROWN
4. Innisfree Color Glow Lipstick in 06 MAPLE BURGUNDY
5. Etude House Dear My Wish Lips Talk in OR202
6. Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner
7. Skin Watcher UV Success Sun Block SPF 50+

The package arrived in an ordinary cardboard box with all the products bubble wrapped to ensure protection.

Out of all the Korean online beauty stores I have used, Jolse is definitely the most giving in regards to their samples. Look at all this! And there's such a wide variety. I've wanted to try the TonyMoly BCDATION and SkinFood Rice Wash Off Mask and now I can. Feeling so spoiled, thank you Jolse!

In comparison, Jolse is one of the cheaper online stores with ibuybeauti the cheapest. Their customer service is also one of the better ones, on par with w2beauty. The only downside to w2beauty is that Alice seems to be the only one responding to emails so respond time is slow, while Jolse is slightly faster. Everything as packaged well, none of the products arrived broken and samples were plentiful. They provide a tracking number, however it is untrackable after the international post office arrival (if you are an Australian buyer).

Official Jolse accounts:

Facebook (Most updated)
Instagram (Have not updated in 7 weeks)
YouTube (Uploads reviews and tutorials)

I was actually supposed to upload a skincare product review today but this came and I was way too excited. It'll come soon this week ^_^ (hint: innisfree)

If anyone wants to see a review soon for any of the items in this haul please tell me! I can most definitely review it first for you~

Until next time, annyeong~

Clio Waterproof Brush Liner in Kill Black 01 Review + Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner Comparison

There has always been a Clio Waterproof Brush Liner vs KOJI Dolly Wink Eyeliner debate and as curiousity overwhelmed me, I couldn't help but purchase the Clio to compare the two. If you have seen my review on the Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner, you'll know that I am a huge fan of liquid eyeliners and love that product a lot.

I am a liquid eyeliner girl who converted from gel eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner is much easier to use, sets faster, lasts longer and is better for travel. Before you'll have gel eyeliners in individual pots with a separate brush making on the go touch ups a hassle, but nowadays you can get gel eyeliner in a click form eyeliner. Very interesting isn't it?

The Clio Waterproof Brush Liner was known to be the 'Lee Hyori' liner, however Sandara Park from 2NE1 is the current Clio ambassador. The liner kit includes the liner and a free O'Tank Volume mascara. I have tried it, and it is nothing extraordinary. No volume, just darkens the lashes but doesn't smudge.

ATRUE Starter Kit Review

Many people when asked about their preferences for skincare and makeup will say that they want natural ingredients in their products. ATRUE is a relatively new brand with 'heritage from France' which uses the 'finest black tea' for their products. I was lucky enough to be chosen to test out this new brand and their starter kit.

Their Starter Kit includes:
12 samples + 3 deluxe samples

Sweet Song Black Tea One-step Cleansing Water (20ml)

Black Tea All Day Long Sun Cream (10g)

White Snow Tea Brilliant Essence (20ml)

Rose Petal Black Tea Enriching Toner (2ml)

Rose Petal Black Tea Enriching Moisturizer (2ml)

Violet Petal Black Tea Hydrating Toner (2ml)

Violet Petal Black Tea Hydrating Moisturizer (2ml)

White Snow Tea Brilliant Toner (2ml)

White Snow Tea Brilliant Essence (2ml)

White Snow Tea Brilliant Aurora Cream (2ml)

Darjeeling Black Tea First Anti-wrinkle Essence (2ml)

Darjeeling Black Tea First Anti-wrinkle Cream (2ml)

Real Black Tea True Active Essence (2ml)

Black Tea All Day Aqua Sun Gel (2g)

Himalaya Black Tea Moist Deep Cream (2g)

Earl Grey Black Tea Bag (2 each)

First impressions of this product are good. The sturdy red tin is decorated with floral patterns on the body and immaculately printed rose shapes on the sides of the lid. You'll need to be focusing on the lid to be able to see it, I really commend their diligence in making the appearance so detailed.

When you first open the kit you are hit with a strong black tea smell which I absolutely adore. I love tea, my substitute for coffee, and did not expect them to actually provide earl grey tea bags for your drinking of skincare pleasure. You can use the tea leaves as an exfoliant.

Two Earl Grey Black Tea bags are inside the beige pouch.

Did you know that tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world? The benefits of black tea:

Research dictates there are cancer reducing properties
Cardiovascular benefits
Elimites free radicals which cause cell damage
Boosts immune system
Combats digestive problems
Aids in weight loss
Can reduce skin puffiness
Accelerates rate of skin regeneration

The tea is from Compagnie Coloniale, a company that started back in 1848 which selects tea from the greatest gardens and develops exclusive blends due to their steam-flavouring process! Read more from their website.

With the Starter Kit, there are three deluxe samples. They are in very portable sizes and I'm actually thinking of bringing them with me to my trip to Seoul!

The Black Tea All Day Long Sun Cream in SPF 50+ feels more like a sunscreen than a sun cream because it is not thick and is rather runny. Very easy to apply and smells very floral, it can get overwhelming. Another thing I noticed was that it seems to have a pink tint when applied onto the skin. Having pink undertone products can help brighten and even the skin tone. Contains 39% Black Tea water.

My favourite of the three is the Sweet Song Black Tea One-Step Cleansing water. I use cleansing waters on a daily basis and have used quite a few. This cleansing water might even be better than my bioderma. I find that this cleansing water removes eye makeup more smoothly and quickly compared to Bioderma. There is a small hole opening, perfect for Q tips and applying on to cotton pads. Smells the most like black tea. Contains 87% Black tea water.

The White Snow Tea Brilliant Essence contains very delicate gold flecks that is only noticeable if you look really closely after applying. For this reason, I personally wouldn't use this at night. The essense reminds me very much of emulsions with its' light texture and white colour. Because it is extremely light, it won't be hydrating enough for Winter. Contains 83% black tea water

And here are the other 12 samples of ATRUE products present in the Starter Kit.

Where can you buy this from?
ATRUE is a newer brand that isn't as popular as Etude House or Innisfree. You can purchase the kit and products from the brand exclusively at JOLSE.

Do I recommend this?
It depends on what you are looking for. If you are deciding on whether you want to buy a full sized ATRUE product (the prices are pretty high end) then this might be a good choice for you. Plus if none of the samples are to your liking, the red tin is absolutely beautiful and can be utilised to hold your makeup brushes or whatever you want.

Until next time, annyeong~

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation and Concealer Review

Maybelline is constantly coming out with new products and is easily found at many stores for easy access. The Maybelline SuperStay Foundation was one of the first ones I have ever tried, but disliked because I found it too thick and heavy for my liking. But the coverage was great and it lasted a fair while.

So when I heard Maybelline was bringing to Australia their Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin range, I knew I had to try it. I am an avid BB cream fan because I find it extremely easy to use and there's no need to choose the right shade (which can cause a lot of stress and pressure) because it's /supposed/ to adapt to your skintone (I'm lucky with Korean BB creams due to my fair skintone). But with the Better Skin Foundation and Concealer, I am happy to announce that I am now /half/ a foundation convert.

Another reason why I love BB creams so dearly is because of their skincare properties with a plethora of brands adding ingredients like green tea, gingseng, snail mucus, rice bran, arbutin and more. With Maybelline's SuperStay Better Skin range, it has been infused with Actyl-C to improve skin texture in 3 weeks. Now I have yet to use this foundation for the full 3 weeks so I am unable to vouch for their claim. I will however edit this post when it's due time. Their first vitamin enriched range is supposed to promote long-lasting power with a flawless all-day coverage.

Claimed key benefits

  1. Enriched with Actyl-C to leave skin feeling fresh and looking healthy and radiant, by promoting skin regeneration. This in turn is supposed to visibly improve skin in 3 weeks.
  2. Noticeable changes in the skin includes a brightening of skintone and a supple conplexion.
  3. Flawless all-day coverage with their innovative air-cushioned pigments which feel light on the skin.
  4. Their concealer is also infused with vitamins to produce the same effect as the foundation for your blemishes, redness, dark circles and imperfections.

The products I will be reviewing
  • Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation in 021 NUDE SPF 14
  • Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation in 02 LIGHT

What I like about the foundation packaging is that it has a plastic pump with the standard foundation glass bottle! Which is a lot better than foundation bottles with none because you cannot control the amount that you want to use. Especially with liquid foundations like this.

The concealer is reminiscent of a lip balm making it easy to carry on the go. If I have to touch up, I lean towards concealers so this is a perfect accompaniment for days where I have to stay out for a long time.

The foundation at best will give a medium coverage, with one application bordering a light coverage. If I were to compare it to my Skin79 Hot Pink BB cream, I would say the BB cream has better coverage. However I do think its great for everyday wear. This Maybelline foundation gives a natural finish that isn't matte or glossy. The liquid foundation has a lighter texture compared to other drugstore foundations which I like.

The foundation is great for redness but not other imperfections like spots and dark circles. Pores look visibly reduced.

I only applied a light lotion before these before and after shots.

Maybelline Better Skin Foundation: Before and After. A brighened complexion.

The low SPF 14 on the foundation means that it is okay for flash photography. It's actually quite hard to find Korean bb creams with little or no SPF so I am now happy to have a foundation and concealer to use for special occasions.

The concealer is my favourite out of the range. It has an almost full coverage, with a slightly thick texture and it doesn't emphasise the dry areas of my skin. It brightens my skintone and gives an 'airbrush' finish. Has a slightly matte but natural finish.

Gives a great coverage for dark circles, redness, acne and other imperfections! Love it. Large pores look hidden.

Maybelline Better Skin Concealer: Before and After. A more even skintone.

Both of foundation and concealers, even though Maybelline doesn't specify, does a great job at controlling my oils. My skin doesn't start to show any signs of shine until around 6 hours. By 8 hours, the foundation applied on my nose is completely gone. I wear glasses but don't find it heavy enough to leave the awful 'glasses imprint' on my nose which is great!

It doesn't smell like anything, great for people with sensitive noses or skin.

Shade Ranges:
For reference, I fit Revlon ColourStay foundation in Sand Beige and is roughly in NW/NC 15-20. 021 NUDE is pink based, which doesn't match my strong yellow/green undertones but it hardly noticeable out in natural sunlight. With flash photography however, it is a different story. The shade is also a little bit darker than my skintone. It turns slightly darker than the initial application after time has passed but does not oxidise completely 'unfriendly' for your skin.

The foundation is available in 8 shades:
005 Beige, 010 Ivory, 020 Cameo, 021 Nude, 030 Sand, 032 Golden, 040 Fawn, & 048 Sun Beige

Looking at the swatches available online, it seems like Ivory is darker than Cameo which is a little strange. I always recommend going out to store and swatch match before purchasing foundations online.

The concealer is only available in two shades:
02 Light and 03 Medium. Drugstore concealers don't tend to have a lot of concealer shade options.

So all in all, do I recommend it? Yes! Definitely if you're looking for a natural finish foundation and you have minimal imperfections. Perfect for teenagers and young skin. However if you are looking for a foundation with a medium to full coverage, you'll need to purchase the concealer as well to achieve it.

Where can you get the foundation and concealer in Australia?

The foundation is set at a RRP of $21.95 while the concealer is $14.95 and can be found at:
Priceline, BIG W, Target, Chemist Warehouse, KMART and other selected pharmacies, department stores and variety stores.

KPOPMART Review + VIXX 'Error' Unboxing

 [not sponsored]

I decided to give myself an easy task to ease myself back into blogging. So today I'll be writing a KPOPMART review and also showing you an unboxing of VIXX's newest mini album Error. (For people who don't know, I am a Starlight and Inspirit)

Anyways, I ordered VIXX's Error a few days before the release (and also coincidentally my higher school certificate exams) on kpoptown because they had the best price. They also had a promotion where a few lucky buyers would get an autographed VOODOO album which of course gave kpoptown a bigger advantage compared to my 'local' kpop store. I'm an easy consumer.

Purchase date: 9th of October
Shipped date: 15th of October [It was released on the 14th]
Arrival date: 3rd of November
I am happy with the shipping times from Korea to Australia. Also I really like their customer service. They send you a photo of the package before they send it off to show you everything in the box.

When an album is a new release, they include a poster in tube option for free.

Price paid: USD$12.10 + $11.80 (shipping) = USD$23.90
However because the AUD is a little low right now, I paid AUD$28.34

Basically was incentive that having the album arrive during my exams would cheer me up when I'm feeling stressed. It arrived the day before my last exam so I guess paying extra money was worth the psychological reward.

A very long parcel that you can't mistake for anything else but POSTER.

Safely wrapped with a layer of bubble wrap. Pop pop pop. And the tube inside the box below.

KPOPMART provided complimentary VIXX photocards. Ravi, Hongbin and Hyuk are on the other side but.... if I have to choose which 'line' I like more, it'll be the hyung line. I'm sorry you are still all ma babyz.

The album is designed really simply, something I do prefer. But as long as it is in sturdy packaging I can't complain. That's why the ETERNITY album disappointed me.

The black cover gives off a matte look which unfortunately means the tiniest scratch will show. I literally opened the package, placed the album down and when I picked it up again it was loitered with tiny scratches.

There's a steel heart as the album cover art which you'll see in their ERROR music video. Their intro track is also called Steel Heart.

Had a fierce battle with the cardboard tube which resulted the crumpled side of the tube and my poster.  The lid was extremely hard to remove, I was wielding a pair of scissors and attacking the lid like it was meat I had to tenderise.

But it was worth it because............

Trying to keep the poster straight for a shot.
Everything that was in the album, not including the complimentary photocards from kpopmart.
Like always there's a small booklet introducing the tracks and lyrics. Also another small 'pamphlet' for Korean Starlights (?) when attending their music show promotions (I think)

With the ERROR album, you can get ONE photocard and ONE photobook. Some lucky Starlights got two photocards/photobooks. I got Ken's photocard (YAY BIAS) and Hyuk's photobook. Was I surprised? Nope. I've been getting VIXX albums/photocards by age order so I was actually expecting Ken (huehuehueheu). But now with Hyuk in the picture (is this classified as a pun?) I'm guessing I'll get either Ravi or Hongbin next time.

So this concludes the end of my unboxing!

Do I recommend KPOPMART? Yes.

If there are any questions, please feel free to ask! And also if you bought the ERROR album, who did you get?

Until next time, annyeong~
