EASY JAPANESE GYARU / HIMEKAJI MAKEUP TUTORIAL

I have mentioned in previous posts that I have become more and more interested in Japanese makeup trends and style. So today I have an easy and simple Japanese Gyaru and Lolita Eye Makeup tutorial!

Dolly Eye Gothic 3 Tones Green sponsored by Uniqso: http://www.uniqso.com/dolly-eye-gothic-3-tones-green?search=dolly%20eye%20gothic%203%20tones

Now let's get started with the tutorial!

EYES

1. Apply your double eyelid glue/tape and blend a light brown shade to emphasise your crease and outer V.

2. Use a black eyeshadow, matter or shimmery, and deepen the outer V of your eyes. Extend the shadow out as desired and remember to apply it on the outer 2/3 of your eye to create a dolly look.

3. With a black eyeliner (liquid or gel recommended), draw a line from the corner of your eye 45 degrees up. During this step, you may want to tilt your head back slightly to get the line as straight as possible.

4. Find your preferred pair of lashes and apply it following the upper curve of your eyeliner. Again this gives the illusion of bigger rounder eyes.

5. Use a white eyeshadow and softly dab it a little lower than your lower lash line.

6. Apply volumising and lengthening mascara to both upper and lower lashes. Optional: You can draw them on during liquid liner! Optional #2: Lower false lashes!

FACE

7. Using a peach or pink blush, apply in a circule motion slightly below your eyes. Do not be afraid to be heavy handed!

8. Contour your nose depending on your nose shape. You can find tutorials online on which contouring technique is best for your nose.

9. Highlight your nose bridge and high point of your cheekbones with a white glitter highlighter.

LIPS

10. Glossy voluminous lips are in. Use your favourite light pink lip tint or nude lipstick as a base and apply lip gloss on the centre of your lips.

11. YOU'RE DONE!

The Dolly Eyes 3 Tone Green lenses move A LOT and does not stay put in the centre. It was a nightmare taking photos with these lenses, so I do not recommend it at all. Though it is very pretty and the perfect size for me.

RESULT

These lashes has serious glare, the white portion is not dried glue!

Haul: Daiso

Hello readers~
I went to the newly opened Merrylands Stocklands in the first week of the holisays solely for Daiso. Prior to that, I've heard about how great two of their cosmetic products were: one being their eyeliner and the other being their eyeliner seal. I was lucky enough to snatch their eyeliner seal but I don't think Sydney Daiso's stock their famous liquid liner. So I opted for another one.

 Follow me on instagram! @sandyylam

Daiso is a Japanese chain store which sells things ranging from food to cosmetics and toiletries! You can find a lot of Japanese factured products in Daiso stores, all for $2.80.

This wasn't exactly purchased at Daiso but at the Dollar Store.. Let's just throw this in ther. In the summer, I like to brew green tea and put it in a spray bottle and use it throughout the day to cool off. However, my old spray bottle was quite large, making it not efficient to carry around. This is also safe for on board travel which is a plus! I'm stocking on travel essentials since I'll be travelling to Korea, Canada and Hong Kong in a few months time.To say I'm excited is an understatement.

I bought some small bottles and a jar to put my skincare products in whenever I travel. As you know, the limit for liquids in the cabin is 90mls (and must be placed in a clear zip lock bag) so it's essential if you travel a lot. The colour is actually a gorgeous teal green but it looks blue in the photos though.

This was the replacement black liquid eyeliner for the one I originally sought for. The colour is opaue and the brush is thin yet strong, perfect for a straight and even line. It stays on incredibly long, longer than my Maybelline gel eyeliner. However, the downside to this is that it rubs off when in it comes in contact with water. When you remove is with eye makeup remover, it flakes off rather than dissolves. Hence it's easier for it to end up in your eyes.

The famous eyeliner seal! I first heard about this product while searching for Daiso product reviews (I always check online to see what's worth buying and what not). You apply it on top of your eyeliner, making sure to only over over it once because it might taint the brush.. as you can see. I tested this out with my ModelCo pencil eyeliner and it works wonders! I rubbed it to test the liner and the line with the seal stayed a lot better than the one without. The liquid has a light blue tint to it.

I was on the look out for a thin cotton pad to replace my current Aldi one. The Aldi brand is thicker than I would have liked it, making the product soak into the cotton instead of tranferring it into my skin. So I was disappointed when this particular Daiso one is not thin at all. Still, it was $2.80 for 180 pads; pretty affordable.

 Until next time, annyeong~~

Wanderlust PART 1: Korean and Japanese beauty stores in Sydney, Australia + Boxing Day sales shopping

Hello readers~
So I've decided to start blogging about my daily adventures other than beauty related reviews, tutorials etc.

On the 26th of December, my parents and I decided to go to the City for sushi at Umi Kaiten Zushi before joining the bodies of sale hungry consumers.
We went to Paddy's Markets first, which is an 'underground' market under Market City filled with stores selling various miscellaneous items. You can buy beauty products, clothing, accessories and much more. The prices are fairly affordable depending on what you purchased. I purchased a Maybelline Colour Sensational lipstick in Fifth Ave Fuchsia for $6.

The sole purpose as to why I visited Paddy's first was to purchase a black floppy sun hat. It's currently Summer here in Australia and I am trying not to tan (unlike the majority here). What other way to avoid the sun than to wear a hat which could act as a fashion statement?

I visited AHA Japanese Cosmetics in Market City. Tsubasa Masuwaka!
AHA Japanese Cosmetics is a store which focuses on Asian products ranging from beauty to health.

They have three stores in Sydney, and there addresses are as follows:

Market City
9-13 Hay Street, Haymarket NSW 2000
(02) 9280 2559

Sussex Street
389-391 Sussex Street, Sydney NSW 2000
(02) 9211 0668

Summit Arcade
559 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000
(02) 9283 9288

[EDIT]

A'HA Cosmetics opened in Strathfield and Parramatta.

Also Blush Cosmetics is another store that sells Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese beauty products. They have several stores in Central, Haymarket and World Square.

Sorry about not taking more photos. I get really immensed when shopping for beauty products but my parents were waiting so I decided to go before I got too attached.

Espirit was having a 30% off everything for their Boxing Day promotions. The reason why I only took a photo of Espirit was because all of the stores were packed.

I wanted the heeled boots in Espirit but my mum doesn't allow me to wear heeled shoes due to my height. I'd be too tall, they said. This is probably why I don't have a lot of shoes.

Market City was decorated with spiralling snowflakes for the festive season, so pretty.

 Chinatown

I found a newly opened (?) beauty store which sells brands like Clio, Dolly Wink, Dr Jart and various other brands. The prices are differ slightly. Some products are cheaper than other stores while there are some which are more expensive. For example, the AKA Japanese beauty store sells the Dolly Wink Eyelash Fix for $25 while this store sells it for $26.50. However, their Koji eyelash glue is cheaper than AKA.

The store is situated between Meet Fresh and Media Asia in Chinatown.

Couldn't resist taking a photo of Sunggyu's poster... His face is half covered.

Meet Fresh is a store which was started by a Taiwanese couple with the sole dream of making Taiwanese desserts! I have yet to try it, but many people have told that their portions are huge! So bring a group of friends to try their desserts.

Review: My Beauty Diary Bulgarian White Rose Mask

Hello! Some of my readers saw my SASA haul post right? I bought a variety of My Beauty Diary masks to try and this would be the first type I will be reviewing~
The Bulgarian White Rose Mask.

My beauty Diary Bulgarian White Rose Mask realizes translucent and white skin. It is ideal for all skin types, especially dull skin.
Perform translucent and white skin: containing Bulgarian White Rose hydrosol, it soothes and hydrates skin. Blended with licorice and kiwi essence, it whitens and nourishes skin, for bright, fine, translucent and white skin.
Leave skin watery and soft: natural hydrating ingredients including aloe, cucumber, seaweed and botanic collagen, instantly hydrate and energize skin, keeping skin watery and youthful.
Amazing Nanospheres Technology: Structured with plenty of tiny holes, it enhances absorption of nourishment, leaving skin moisturized. (Taken from SASA)

A pro to using facial masks is the amount of essence in each pack. It's enough for use as an after treatment or night essence.

The mask is controued correctly to suit my face. The material is a lot thinner than Beautymate, something I noticed immediately. This is a good thing as it allows your skin to use as much essence as possible, rather than having it soaked up in the mask sheet itself.

It completely dried in around 1 and a half hours (90 minutes). You can tell it's dry when it turns an opaque white.

My skin looked visibly whiter, which lasted around a day. I did not experience any immediate break outs which is a good thing because I could not say the same thing about the Bird's Nest one.
My skin felt hydrated and smooth. The essence itself has a STRONG rose scent which dissipates a while after you take off the mask. However, I quite adore the scent of roses so I was happy that my room ended up smelling florally.

Pros:
  • Visibly whitens which is what it advertises
  • Hydrates
  • Moisturises
  • Affordable (bought for $1.10)
  • No adverse side effects like breakouts
Cons:
  • The rose scent might be too overwhelming for some people.
  • Took a long time to completely dry. A lot longer than the suggested 20-30 minutes.
  • Leaves a sticky feeling on your fingers and skin before it dries
