Korean Vs Japanese Makeup | BEFORE AND AFTER MAKEUP TRANSFORMATION VIDEO
Hello lovelies!
Today I have a fun video where I demonstrate the differences between Korean and Japanese makeup! This is inspired by the popular Korean VS American makeup videos but I've decided to do a Korean vs Japanese take on it because I like both styles. This is a BEFORE AND AFTER MAKEUP TRANSFORMATION where I show you guys my interpretation of these makeup styles.
In the beginning video, I have a base + eyebrow video which is pretty much similar in Korean and Japanese makeup (flawless base and straight eyebrows). Then we move on to the Korean makeup which focuses a lot more on the eyeliner and a natural look rather than eyeshadow play and false eyelashes like with the Japanese makeup (inspired by Himekaji/gyaru/popular teen makeup).

EASY JAPANESE GYARU / HIMEKAJI MAKEUP TUTORIAL
I have mentioned in previous posts that I have become more and more interested in Japanese makeup trends and style. So today I have an easy and simple Japanese Gyaru and Lolita Eye Makeup tutorial!

The Dolly Eyes 3 Tone Green lenses move A LOT and does not stay put in the centre. It was a nightmare taking photos with these lenses, so I do not recommend it at all. Though it is very pretty and the perfect size for me.

Now let's get started with the tutorial!
EYES
1. Apply your double eyelid glue/tape and blend a light brown shade to emphasise your crease and outer V.
2. Use a black eyeshadow, matter or shimmery, and deepen the outer V of your eyes. Extend the shadow out as desired and remember to apply it on the outer 2/3 of your eye to create a dolly look.
3. With a black eyeliner (liquid or gel recommended), draw a line from the corner of your eye 45 degrees up. During this step, you may want to tilt your head back slightly to get the line as straight as possible.
4. Find your preferred pair of lashes and apply it following the upper curve of your eyeliner. Again this gives the illusion of bigger rounder eyes.
5. Use a white eyeshadow and softly dab it a little lower than your lower lash line.
6. Apply volumising and lengthening mascara to both upper and lower lashes. Optional: You can draw them on during liquid liner! Optional #2: Lower false lashes!
FACE
7. Using a peach or pink blush, apply in a circule motion slightly below your eyes. Do not be afraid to be heavy handed!
8. Contour your nose depending on your nose shape. You can find tutorials online on which contouring technique is best for your nose.
9. Highlight your nose bridge and high point of your cheekbones with a white glitter highlighter.
LIPS
10. Glossy voluminous lips are in. Use your favourite light pink lip tint or nude lipstick as a base and apply lip gloss on the centre of your lips.
11. YOU'RE DONE!
The Dolly Eyes 3 Tone Green lenses move A LOT and does not stay put in the centre. It was a nightmare taking photos with these lenses, so I do not recommend it at all. Though it is very pretty and the perfect size for me.

Tutorial: How to apply BB cream + BB cream tips ♡
Hello readers~
Here are one of my finished tutorials I did in the past few days. This was done in conjunction to my next makeup tutorial so please anticipate that! Try guessing which look I did. Hint hint, it's a female K-pop idol.

What is BB cream?
Now the first BB cream was actually developed in Germany (not Korea, Japan or China) by dermatologist Christine Schrammek in 1950s. It was developed for patients as an after treatment to soothe and moisturise the skin from facial peels, burns and other facial problems.
BB cream is a one-step product which includes all the necessary presteps needed to take before applying foundation like moisturiser, primer, sunscreen etc with other added skin benefits. Whitening, wrinkle repair and anti aging are popular properties in geniune Asian BB creams.
BB cream stands for blemish balm.
How to apply BB cream:
Using your fingers:
Step 1: Moisturise and use a primer to prep your skin for the BB cream. This will help give you a more even finish without making you look too cakey. It'll help eliminate dry spots and give your BB cream a clean canvas for it to work on.
Step 2: Pump your desired amount (usually a pea sized amount would do) of BB cream onto the back of your hand. The warmth from your hands will help warm up the BB cream for a better application. It'll blend better. Apply the product in dots all over your face. I like to dot it three times on my each cheek in a triangle shape, two on each side of my forehead, a few times down my nose bridges and jawline. It's very important for you to blend it into your hairline and down your neck to avoid your face from looking like a mask.
Step 3: From your cheeks, blend it outwards to your hairline. Blend downwards on your nose bridge and apply it upwards on your forehead. The reason why you should apply it like this is to help discourage your skin from losing its elasticity. It's like facial massaging. You're encouraging your natural facial contours. This was taught to me by my auntie who is a nurse and has extremely good skin for her age.
Step 4: Apply in dots in areas where you need extra coverage. For me, they are my undereyes and acne spots.
Using a brush (stippling brush):
Step 1: Pump your desired amount of product onto the back of your hand. Dip your stippling brush into the BB cream.
Step 2: Using a stippling brush, stipple the BB cream all over your face before buffing the product into your skin.
Don't forget your neck and eyes! You don't want to have very obvious eye circles.
Extra options:
Powder: Apply the powder to your t zone and cheeks to minimise shine and oil.
Facial mist: This is my preferred method. It creates a natural glow and a healthy look as opposed to powder when it can look too matte.

BB cream tips
- Most Asian BB creams take a while for the shade to adjust to your skintone. Make sure you apply it well before you go out. Maybe wait 10 minutes until the intial gray cast wears off. So when you're swatching BB creams on your jawline, it might look too light for you when it can in fact fit you well.
- I find that using your fingers is the better (and preferred) way of applying BB cream. It can help warm up the product, making it easier to blend while brushes do not.
- Check the expiry date on all BB cream products and chuck it out whenever it passes the date (like all makeup products)
- Remember to blend the product into your neck! You don't want to end up looking like you have a very obvious mask.
- Just because BB cream is marketed as a one-step product, you can of coarse apply primer and moisturiser beforehand. Always apply sunscreen as a base to protect your skin from the suns UV and UB rays which can cause age spots, wrinkles and freckles.
- Remove all BB cream thoroughly. Some people treat it as a skincare product and leave it on at night, but it still needs to be removed. Clogged up pores = acne problems, blackheads and whiteheads!
- If you find that the shade does not adjust properly, you can mix it with a darker or lighter foundation/bb cream.
- Koreans like to mix in highlighters or moisture creams (Stylenanda Nursing cream, Etude House Nymph Aura volumer #1, #2, #3) to give a more dewy look. Facial mists are also used as a popular alternative to finishing sprays (Evian Facial Spray, Avene Thermal Spring Water)
- American companies are developing their own BB creams and in my opinion, they do not live up to the standards of Asian BB creams. They are not just tinted moisturizsers!! I'll be making another post about this, so stay tuned.
